[Editor’s note: the article has been updated with descriptions of the videos.]

We’ve previously reported on Raven’s Cry, the seemingly forgotten pirate RPG that has been stagnating on Steam. Now the developers have let RPGWatch publish some in-game footage of the game, which we’ve featured below.

It’s worth mentioning that the game is still in development, and this is the first time we’re truly getting a look at anything running in-engine. RPGWatch describes the game as feeling somewhat like Two Worlds II, both in combat and art direction.

St. Lucia stroll

This first video takes us on a walk through St. Lucia, a port town, and shows off the user interface, including the screens for equipments, skills, quests, the ship, the crew, and the map.

Ship battles

The next video shows off how ship combat works. We get a quick look at how conversations look, and what St. Lucia looks like at night. More importantly, we see what options the shipwright offers in the form of upgrades and repairs.

While the player’s voyaging towards St. George’s, they come across a hostile ship, and we get to see the ships firing their cannons at each other. The player’s ship gets damaged more and bursts into flame.

Players will be able to hijack other ships in this game. Boarding succeeds or fails through a turn-based mini-game. If the player’s victorious, they get to take the other ship’s goods.

Despite the build featured here being somewhat early (it’s missing voice-overs), Raven’s Cry is reportedly still on track for a January 26th release date, on Steam.
