Ukiyo no Roushi, translated as Ronin of Ukiyo, is the Playstation Vita version of the pair of third-person, action adventure games that Spike Chunsoft has been developing.  Instead of the Vita version being a simply port of the PS3 game, the game is actually a standalone title with its own story and characters.

Ukiyo no Roushi will be available in Japan for 5,800 yen on the Playstation Vita on February 11, 2015.

Characters

Roushi‘s cast of characters include, from left to right above, Okita Yoshijiro, the protagonist; Okita Soji, Yoshijiro’s uncle, who for some reason looks like a tomboy; and Kondo Isami, the commander of the Shinsengumi, a traditionalist and samurai with a severe personality.

Story

The Playstation Vita version of the Ukiyo games tells the story of soldier Yoshijirou Okita, a historical figure who, following his uncle’s footsteps, joins the Shinsengumi, a special police force of the Bakufu (the military government), which opposed the Oshin Shishi and remained loyal to the Tokugawa shogunate during the uprisings. Yoshijiro works under Saito Hajime as an investigator, solving mysterious murder cases; he also paints ukiyo-ye paintings on the side. Soon, however, Yoshijiro finds himself embroiled in events of great import as famous figures die or become criminals.

Above and below are quick look at the sort of cinematic, samurai combat you can expect from the game. Since both Ukiyo no Roushi and Ukiyo no Shishi use the same gameplay systems, we’ve decided to detail it in the new debut trailer update. For a lot more detail on the action, head over there.
