Clothing destruction has been a widely known staple of the Senran Kagura series, however the studio at Marvelous are looking to raise the bar up a notch. The game is reportedly going to involve copious amounts of water in some shape or form, and coming from this – the various kunoichi’s clothes can get wet as well.

Just like the clothing destruction segments in previous Senran Kagura games, when a girl’s clothes become wet, the screen will become filled with a cut in segment showing off the damp conditions. As you’d expect – when their clothes get wet, they’ll eventually become see-through.

The story in Senran Kagura: Estival Versus appears to be somewhat of a side-story, taking place during a midsummer festival where the souls of dead shinobi are put to rest and honored after their parting. Following the midsummer festival, the shinobi have a giant feast to honor their fallen comrades.

A bunch of new characters were confirmed and they involve three young girls – and an elderly woman. Sayuri, the elderly woman, is featured above and on the far left. She lugs around a large tobacco pipe that she kind of uses as a walking cane, and she brandishes an arm band that says “Lifelong Service.” Sayuri is seemingly the leader of the group of new characters.

Renka, the girl on the right of Sayuri, is the oldest of the three sisters. She wears a crimson and white dress, and she wields a pair of sticks known as Raitei in combat. Hanabi, the girl on the right of the second page, is the middle sister. She’s a big fan of these festivals, and she is always rocking a Japanese happi (traditional seasonal coat) and headband. Oh, and she wields that gigantic hammer in combat. Lastly, the youngest sister is named Kafuru, shown as the girl on the left of Hanabi. She uses a watergun in battle and is frequently at the punchline of Hanabi’s jokes about her undeveloped chest.

The game’s various special editions and bonuses were also detailed in Famitsu. A limited edition is coming with a drama CD, a theme song solo and arranged CD, and five Niitengo (adorable miniature figurines), although a price was not mentioned. The Playstation 4 version is also coming with a download code for a special 30 minute anime.

Senran Kagura: Estival Versus is coming to Japan on both PlayStation 4 and PS Vita on March 26, 2015.
