Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have confirmed the latest game in the Fatal Frame series, titled Zero: Nuregarasu no Miko, or Fatal Frame: The Raven Haired Shrine Maiden in English.

The upcoming Wii U exclusive will launch in Japan on September 27th for 6,600 yen. Featured above, you can check out its debut trailer – you’ve been warned, it’s pretty damn spooky!

The game brings with it a horror adventure experience, and it’s being poised as the series biggest yet. The story takes place in Hikamiyama, a sacred mountain with a giant lake near its peak that spews forth water all throughout the mountain. Despite it being sacred, it’s also a mountain of death, and only people who throw away their will to live venture there.

These travelers visit the mountain during the “oumagatoki,” or the concept of the witching hour – where the worlds of the living and the dead blur together. The game’s theme is curiously set around the theme of water.

The protagonist is Kozukata Yuuri, she can apparently see those who have been unfortunate enough to be whisked away to the land of the dead. These helpless souls return to the world of the living, prompting her to visit Mt. Hikamiyama.

The Wii U’s GamePad will essentially act as a camera for the game itself, allowing you to move it and take pictures in real time. You can even follow the ghosts in real time, and look around the environment as you wish.

Lastly, the game’s theme song is “Higanbana,” and it’s sung by AnJu. You can also visit the game’s official website here.
