This Video Game Charity Raised Over Ten Million Dollars

Usually when we talk about millions of dollars being raised because of video games, it’s related to a kickstarter or crowd funding of some sort – to help develop a game that publishers have raised their noses to.

This time, we’re talking about a charity that was organized around the concept of developers and publishers donating their games to Gaming for Good, a platform started by celebrity gamer Bachir Boumaaza, who goes by the alias of Athene.


What’s so different about Gaming for Good? Well, instead of money for these donated games going to the pockets of developers and publishers, its being donated to the international charity Save the Children, whose current efforts are helping children in Malawi, Indonesia and Bangladesh.

Gaming for Good has currently toppled the staggering milestone of ten million dollars. Bachir has gotten some flak for using his gaming celebrity following to spread the message for Gaming for Good, but who cares?

It’s for a good cause, and honestly seeing him spend lots of time, effort and probably his own money (at least in the beginning), is downright inspiring. You can check out their milestone below:
